If an action is second nature, what is first nature? Can something be third nature? What about fourth?
If energy can be neither created nor destroyed, where does the fluttering in your heart come from when the person you love most in the world walks past?
Is there such thing as free will? Science argues that the brain is constantly reacting to the external stimuli it encounteres on a daily basis so in fact, all actions are simply reflexes based on previous experiences. If this is true, can we blame someone for murder if, throughout their life, every single thing they have encountered has pushed them towards killing someone, while everything the victim encounters leads them to the killer?
Is world hunger a bad thing? Of course it is by our moral standards. But from a logical perspective, it's the only thing keeping the rest of us alive. When people can sustain themselves, they raise families who in turn require more food than before. If more food is provided the cycle continues. The Earth only has so much space. Eventually we won't be able to feed any more people. At that point, many more people will be starving than now. Essentially the more we help, the worse it gets.
If there is an afterlife, is there a beforelife? Why should your spirit only go to another world after you're dead? Surely it must have been somewhere before you were born? If not, how can we justify an afterlife? Who's to say if the life we are living is not the afterlife or beforelife of some other plane of existence? Maybe we are already angels? Maybe we are already gods? Maybe we are only waiting to be born?
Can we even imagine a life without emotion or would we all just picture ourselves on an overcast day, staring at the drizzling rain outside, with a blank expression on our faces? That's what I do. I would be bored and depressed, despite the idea that I would be able to feel neither.
If eyes are the windows to our soul, are the windows of blind people broken or merely closed?
If philosophy is the pursuit of knowledge, why is it that when you answer one question, several more appear in its place. It's like a battle with a metaphysical Hydra. Therefore, in this pursuit, the faster you go, the further away you are from your goal. Does that mean that people with no exposure to philosophy are closer to attaining true knowledge than those who spend their entire lives pursuing it, or are they simply in a different race?
If time is money, does that mean the more money you have, the longer you live or the opposite?
According to popular belief, everybody has a soul mate. If this is the case, since the male population of the Earth ever so slightly outweighs the female population, there must be certain men who's soul mates are also men. If this is the case, can the condemnation of homosexuals by the Christian Church be justified if the men are soul mates, otherwise known as true love, a value that the Church holds above all others?
If love is as amazing as everyone says it is, why can't it help me with physics?
