If love were a board game, what would it be?
Would it be chess or monopoly?
If you could buy and sell dear hearts
And checkmate someone from the start
Then don't play the game, you know,
You'll go to jail, do not pass go.

What if it resembled ladders and snakes?
No money, no pawns, no raising the stakes
Climbing the rungs, playing honest and fair,
Searching endlessly for that final square,
Where all your troubles will finally end
But slide down a snake and it all starts again.

Perhaps it's like cluedo, subtle and dignified
Never knowing what secrets they hide
Yet knowing that someone will die in the end
And try as you might, to heal and to mend
You end up getting into more and more strife
